Quick Trip to Orlando:

This month, Temprie decided out of no where that we were going to take a quick trip to Disney! Without a second thought we got it all set and packed our bags! We truly enjoy spontaneous trips, we make sure we make the most out of them. Even though we barely had any time to plan it we found some good videos on how to do Disney parks like a pro and we sure did!

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is an absolute gem, no matter how old you are it always find a way to make you feel like a child!

[Taken with our digital camera]

The night before, we planned to rope drop the park and run towards Space Mountain, my favorite Disney ride. Unlike Universal, Disney’s rope drop is only 30 minutes. We rushed to take some pictures and then to Tomorrowland, which is right next to Main Street. When we made it to the ride, there was only a 20-minute line, and honestly, it felt like we waited 12 minutes.

Quick castle pic at rope drop

We wanted to do Buzz Lightyear ASAP because that ride gets an insane line, but unfortunately, it was closed. No time to waste. With no time to waste, we went over to the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor show. You might wonder why we didn’t go elsewhere in the park. Well, from my experience, Magic Kingdom is best tackled in order. Whether you start on the left side or the right side, it's best to save your steps and knock out most of the rides in one area first. We were hoping that by the time we finished the show, the Buzz Lightyear ride would be open, but sadly, it stayed closed for most of the day.

Tomorrowland

We ate so much food during this park day, but we had to start with the famous Joffrey’s Coffee! I had an almond milk iced latte with vanilla syrup, and Temprie had a S'mores Frappuccino.

After Tomorrowland, we headed into Fantasyland. We walked around the Storybook Circus area, checked out the Dumbo ride and The Barnstormer, and took some pictures. Then we made our way to Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid, It's a small world, and my all-time favorite show, Mickey's PhilharMagic! We had a blast in this area. It's absolutely breathtaking because of how nostalgic it feels. We did miss a few rides I wanted to do, but oh well, they will be at the top of the list next time!

On our way to our reservation at the Beak and Barrel bar (which we only had 30 minutes to make!), we saw that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad had a 30-minute line. We decided to risk it, and oh my, was that a fun ride! The only downside was that it was noon, and the line felt like we were stuck in a sauna with 100 other people. It was so hot, but thankfully the line moved somewhat fast, and we were able to run to our reservation. We got some amazing, refreshing drinks, and the ambiance of the place was incredible. A 10/10 stop! They also offered food, but we stuck to drinks.

Unfortunately, right after this, we had to rush back to the hotel because Temprie had some work to do. I took the opportunity to eat some chicken tenders and rest for a bit before heading back to the park. By then, we had lost two FastPasses we had purchased! one because of the missed time, and the other due to weather conditions. We were pretty upset heading back to the park, especially since we were in a time crunch to make our Haunted Mansion FastPass window.

Wonderful view of the castle taken from the back

Thankfully, we made it just in time and continued our day. By now, we had crossed off most of our must dos, but we were still bummed that we missed our FastPass for Pirates of the Caribbean. When we checked the app and realized the standby line only had a 15-minute wait time, we RAN! Somehow, we made it right on time. We loved the ride!! The smells in there are so cool!

As soon as we left, we went to try the famous cheeseburger (Big Mac-style) and pepperoni pizza spring rolls, plus we grabbed some fries and a hot dog on Main Street. We got to watch the sunset from around there, and it was wonderful.

View of the park from the castle!

By the end of the day, we were pretty much done with our list, and we had a reservation for TRON Lightcycle at 9:00 PM, so we had some time to kill. We walked back to Tomorrowland to check on Buzz Lightyear, but the line was around two hours long. We then checked the PeopleMover, but it was down, so we opted for Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress. To be honest, I took a nap while the show was running, but from what I did experience, it looked like a wholesome, informative show.

By this point, we were exhausted and dehydrated. For some reason, Magic Kingdome doesn’t have water bottle refill stations everywhere, and we hadn’t found one. We were spending way too much money on bottled water and Powerade. Our heads were hurting so much that we decided to go sit and rest at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café. By now, TRON had gone down, and it was starting to rain. We ordered some food and waited for the rain to let up before walking over to try our luck at the ride.

Pro tip: there is a water refill station in this cafe!

Sonny Eclipse!

When we got there, the line opened up, we made it inside quickly and got the FRONT row! I wanted to die. Even though the ride was so much fun, I was terrified. It is such a fast, cool coaster, and I definitely recommend everyone try it at least once but make sure you have an empty stomach so you don't risk getting sick! Will I ride it again? Maybe.

Yes I was screaming at the top of my lungs

After that, we realized we had an active "recovery" FastPass from the ride that went down earlier, and coincidentally, Buzz Lightyear was finally open! We finally did it! It took three tries throughout the day, but we got on it, and with the pass, it was a walk on. And just as we were walking off the ride, the firework show was starting! What a wonderful day to end a succesful day!

Hollywood Studios

This was our second time at Hollywood Studios! We love this theme park, and this time around, we were able to tackle it much more efficiently and focus on trying the new foods. We didn't stress about making it for rope drop since we already had FastPasses for our must-do rides. We really just wanted to take it easy and enjoy the new treats in Galaxy's Edge.

When we arrived, we decided to snap some pictures right away while the weather was nice, not wanting to risk the rain ruining our outfits. Even though it barely rained, it stayed delightfully gloomy all day. While taking photos, Rey actually approached us and gave me a very important mission: to capture images of the Empire and what they were up to! I must confess, as soon as we started eating, I completely forgot about it, lol.

Rey and idk who the other is!

We had a mission: try the new cold brew, Grogu’s cookies, grab a Ronto Wrap, and eat at the one Galaxy’s Edge restaurant we missed last time. I must say that that cold brew was so bad, 2/10. It was probably my own fault for asking for it without cream, but I didn't see any lactose-free options… Thank goodness I carry my trusty stevia for when Temprie gets bad cocktails, I was able to sweeten the coffee and enjoy it. On the other hand, I enjoyed the Grogu cookie. It had a nice pineapple cream, and it felt refreshing and sweet.

After our sweet morning treats, it was time to get on some rides. I took a Dramamine, and it was go time! We started with Star Tours, then did Rise of the Resistance. This was the only way to survive all those rocket ship rides; my motion sickness doesn't do well during those rides.

Star Tours!

Once we were done and had our water bottles refilled (pro tip: there is a great water fountain in Galaxy's Edge!), we headed over to Toy Story Land to ride Slinky Dog Dash. It is so much fun! Even though it was midday, we had a blast. I highly suggest getting a FastPass for everything in Toy Story Land, but especially this ride, because the Florida sun hits hard here. The bright, oversized colors make it feel like a fever dream, and the Slinky line is the worst: no AC, hundreds of people, and the sun cooking everyone alive. If you only get one FastPass, use it here, or maybe for the Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway (the lines are always way too long and out in the open, so we still haven't ridden it. Next time!).

After Slinky, we had some time to kill and were dying from the heat, so we popped into the Walt Disney Presents theater in that area and just sat in the AC for 20 minutes. Of course, I took a quick nap.

Finally, it was time for Temprie's favorite ride (outside Star Wars): Toy Story Mania! For this one, I prepped my second Dramamine (less drowsy) of the day. I was getting ready for Smugglers Run! So I took my pill in line and got to enjoy the ride, and then made our way back to Galaxy's Edge.

Temprie and Mando, talking about tempries shirt

What a surprise it was to run into the Mandalorian on our way there! We were lucky enough to catch him with no line and walked right up to the front. Temprie had a blast meeting him, and Mando even complimented his T-shirt! It was a dream come true, though sadly, there was no Grogu. Hopefully, I'll get to see the baby next time!

Millenium Falcon - Smugglers Run!

Smugglers Run had a short wait, and for the first time ever, we got to be PILOTS! We also got to experience the new storyline! We were transporting cargo for Mando and Grogu, and they were all over the screens helping us and making cute little sounds. It was incredible, but my favorite part was definitely pulling the lever to jump into hyperspace.

Our yummy lunch!

For lunch, we ate at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, and it was delicious.

My Order: Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip (crispy chicken served with housemade macaroni and roasted vegetables, garnished with cauliflower leaf kimchi). It felt like comforting home food, but looked so cool and spacey that it made for a really fun dining experience.

Temprie's Order: Sweet Puffer Pig Ribs (pork ribs brushed with tangy BBQ sauce, served with mac & cheese and sponge cake).

At around 2:00 PM, we had a reservation at our favorite spot, Oga's Cantina! With an hour to kill before our time slot, we went shopping. Temprie found a cool robe, and I picked up some artwork. Our backpacks were getting so heavy we had to rent a locker! We also checked out the Animation Courtyard, which was filled with characters and happy kids running around. It was a bit chaotic but so wholesome to visit. It’s dangerous, though we saw Stitch get chased and almost tackled by a herd of 4-year-olds! Beware!

Stitch and Pluto doing some important meet and greets

We had a fantastic time at Oga's Cantina (you'll see more of that in Temprie's vlog). We got some pretty cool souvenir cups, and mine has officially become my Mickey ear holder. Afterward, we made our way to my all-time favorite ride: The Tower of Terror! Temprie hates elevators and heights, so it's not exactly fun for him, but he’s always a good sport and rides it with me anyway. This time around, our elevator was filled with children, so the drop sequence wasn't as tough as it usually is. A nice little treat for Temprie, hahah!

Tower of terror!

Right after, we found the perfect coffee spot in the entire park. There is a hidden Joffrey's with espresso martinis right at the exit of the Tower of Terror, complete with plenty of shaded spots to sit and chill. We relaxed there for a while before going on the hunt for a white Monster energy drink for Temprie.

By sunset, our feet were absolutely destroyed. We had walked back and forth to our lockers several times to drop off our mugs and souvenirs, and those trips really took a toll. We wanted to catch some of the stage shows, but we just lost track of time. Adding that to the list for our next trip!

I want to watch the beauty and the beast show next time!

At the end of the day, we got a reservation to the Sci-Fi Drive-In Theater Restaurant. I am going to be honest, I was very excited to eat here because last time I wasn't able to try any foods. We went on the Aerosmith, now Muppets ride, and it really messed up my stomach. This time around, I had high hopes, and I got a chicken BBQ burger with a pickle sauce. The first couple of bites, were really good, but then I felt how salty it was, and since I have braces, I had little cuts inside my mouth and it started to burn. Unfortunately, I couldn’t finish my burger. I was able to eat the fries after cleaning them up on the napkin. It was an unfortunate situation. Oh well, next time we will go to a different restaurant!

We checked out a few stores before leaving. We skipped the PhilharMagic show at the end of the day because we wanted to beat the crowds and go to our hotel faster because our feet couldn't hang anymore.

Overall, it was a wonderful day. We ate amazing food and rode all our favorites! Make sure to watch the vlog on Temprie's channel so you can experience the trip right along with us!

📖 The Reading Nook

Due to the Newsletter already being very long, I wont be posting my months reads but instead next month will be a Summer Reads posts!

🎥The Screening Room

This month Temprie and I mostly watched new shows, here are a list of my favorites.

The Boroughs by Jeffrey Addiss, Will Matthews

The Vibe: Suspenseful, mind bending

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Why I Loved It: This was a fun, lighthearted thriller. There is something so cool about seeing older people do cool stuff, like solve murders and investigate. Temprie and I enjoyed every second of this. It had a wonderful magical aspect to it that made it feel even more interesting. The setting and ambiance were on point! it had that eerie, retro feel that makes you wonder who is real and who isn't. At first, it reminded me of the movie The Stepford Wives, a feminist horror that also focuses on ultra-perfect suburban communities where the residents are strangely flawless and compliant. Even though the show drifts from that plot, it still captivates you with its wonder. The show has been canceled and no second season is coming, but I think the ending is great exactly as it is!

Widow's Bay by Katie Dippold

The Vibe: Eerie, mysterious, dark horror-comedy

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Why I Loved It: This show was Temprie's favorite of the month. Even though it wasn't my personal favorite, I really enjoyed the strangeness of it, it reminded me a lot of Twin Peaks (my favorite show growing up, along with The Twilight Zone). The story feels very clear at first, but eventually, it gets weirder and weirder, and the characters are somehow even odder than the plot. My favorite character was Patricia, and Temprie's was the mayor. The one thing that kept this show from being a 5-star watch for me is the cringe level. I just can't deal with cringe comedy; it makes it too hard to watch, and I don't even end up enjoying the jokes. I guess I'm just overly sensitive to cringe, haha!

From season 4 by John Griffin

The Vibe: Folk Horror, Mystery, Thriller

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Why I Loved It: From is our all-time favorite show, and I personally really enjoyed Season 4. It feels like they are truly building up to an amazing final season! I liked how this time around there were many jumps in the timeline; we got to see some interesting past memories and maybe even some parallel universes. The ending delivered a crazy plot twist, and just when the story felt like it was finally unfolding, it tied itself back into a million knots. I will always recommend this show! it's exactly the type of series I will never get tired of watching.
